GIHOA has been affiliated with USA Hockey since 1996. It is the premier scheduler of officiating services for the vast majority of competitive ice hockey in and around metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia.
GIHOA volunteers and gives back to the Georgia hockey community.
Contributor to the AAHL Hockey Foundation. Volunteers for hockey charities, Atlanta Sparks Special Needs Hockey and Hockey Saves.
GIHOA provides the most educational and advancement opportunities anywhere
- 20 GIHOA officials have attended USAH District Officiating Seminars and 25 GIHOA officials have been granted opportunities to attend USAH regional camps
- GIHOA members include 12 certified USA Hockey instructors and 10 current and former professional hockey officials.
- More than ten different officials sent to USA Hockey National Championships – nearly every year for more than fifteen years.
- Regularly sent officials to NAPHL prospect tournaments and USA Hockey’s Southeast District Championships.
- Georgia is second within the Southeast District in terms of total official evaluations conducted, 100% of which were conducted by GIHOA officials.
GIHOA invests in the professional development and education of its members including evaluations, camps, and seminars.
GIHOA schedules officials for more hockey organizations than any other group.
